The Coerver Coaching Method focuses on developing individual ball skills and enhancing players' decision-making abilities through a structured, progressive curriculum. Emphasizing technique, creativity, and small-sided games, it aims to build confidence and improve overall soccer performance. Coerver's approach is suitable for all ages and skill levels, promoting both individual excellence and team play.

JIS Academy Soccer offers five types of soccer programming options utilizing the Coerver method: Junior Dragons Soccer, Dragons Soccer Skills, Dragons Soccer, Dragons Elite Soccer and Dragons Soccer Camp.

Junior Dragons Soccer is intended for our Early Years soccer players. Classes are offered on Saturdays. The emphasis is on fundamental movement skills, basic rules of the game and fun!

Dragons Soccer Skills is offered to children in Kindergarten to Grade 5 after school Monday to Friday. There is also an emphasis on fundamental movement skills, the basic rules of the game but we add in fun, sport specific technical training skills. Soccer Skills is perfect for the recreational player who is not quite ready to commit to multiple practices during the week and games on weekends.

Dragons Soccer is intended for children who want to play on a soccer team, practice soccer on a regular basis and play games on the weekends. Children in Dragons Soccer play in the Jakarta Schools Competition League against children in different schools. Children are assessed a the start of the season and and placed in teams according to their skill level so that they can play against players from other schools with similar playing skills.

Dragons Elite Soccer is is designed to provide top-tier training and development for young Middle School and High School athletes who show exceptional talent and dedication to the sport. The program emphasizes advanced technical skills, tactical understanding, physical conditioning, and mental fortitude through a rigorous and structured curriculum. Participants benefit from experienced coaching, competitive play, and opportunities to showcase their abilities at regional, national and international levels, fostering their growth into well-rounded, high-performing soccer players. Additionally, the program prioritizes character development, instilling values such as teamwork, leadership, resilience, and sportsmanship to help athletes succeed both on and off the field. 

Assessments for the Dragons Soccer (U9 and U11 teams) will take place on Sunday, August 25. Elementary aged girls who wish to play on a Girls Dragon soccer team need not attend the assessment day unless they want to play on the coed team made mostly of boys.

There is a separate Dragons Elite Soccer ( U13 & U15)  tryout which will occur in mid to late November.  Non JIS students are also welcome to try out for the Dragons Elite Soccer team.

Dragons Soccer Camps are held at various times throughout the year by either our JIS Academy soccer coaches or with a special guest from overseas.

Dragon Soccer Skills is open to boys and girls in Kindergarten to Grade 5. This recreational program is offered after school hours as part of our after-school activity (ASA) program. Soccer Skills builds individual soccer skills such as:

• Penguasaan Bola - Mampu memanipulasi dan mengontrol bola.

• Sentuhan Pertama - Menguasai bola segera setelah bola tiba.

• Belok - Kemampuan untuk memutar tubuh dengan cepat dengan atau tanpa bola.

• Menggiring bola - Menggunakan kedua kaki untuk menggerakkan bola secara dekat dengan kaki Anda ke berbagai arah dan kecepatan.

• Menendang & Mengumpan - Menggunakan bagian kaki yang berbeda untuk menendang bola secara akurat dan dengan kekuatan yang tepat.

Keterampilan Sepak Bola versi EY1 dan EY2 kami disebut "Bintang Sepak Bola Junior". Program ini berlangsung pada hari Sabtu di kampus Cilandak.

As the program is recreational there are no games played on weekends.

Dragons Soccer is our team based soccer program. Children attend an assessment day at the start of the year. They are placed in teams and then play in the the Jakarta Schools Competition League (JSCL) against players of a similar level.

The JSCL is a competitive league for boys and girls. There are approximately 120 teams in the league made up of different schools from around the Jakarta area. The league runs from September to May. The league culminates with a Gala Festival on the last day of the season whereby trophies and medals are presented to the winning team and runner's up for each division. Assessments for the U9 and U11 Dragons Coed Soccer teams will take place on Sunday, August 25 from 8:00 AM - 10:30 AM on the Cilandak campus-Field 2. Register by Tuesday, August 20. 

Girls who would rather play on a Girls Soccer Team as opposed to a Coed team that has predominantly boys on each team do not need to attend the assessment day on Sunday, August 25.

Assessments for the U13, U15 and U17 Dragons Soccer teams will take place after the JIS MS and HS soccer season around November 9.

Apologies- NON JIS students cannot play on Dragons Soccer Teams as its a school league and all students must attend JIS.

 

Girls who would prefer to play with other girls are invited to play in the Girls Section of our Dragons Soccer section. This section is open to all girls from JIS or outside the community. As we are still in the process of generating interest in the sport, the Girls Section will operate differently than the coed Dragons Soccer team.

In the Girls Section, elementary girls will practice once a week and play matches against each other on Sundays. Middle and High School girls will practice twice a week and play games on weekends in the JSCL.

• U14 Girls Dragons Soccer- players must must be born on or after 1st September 2010

• U19 Girls Dragons Soccer- players must must be born on or after 1st September 2005

There are no start of season soccer assessments for the Girls Dragon soccer section at this time.

Elite Soccer Tryouts

Tryouts for the Elite Soccer program will take place after the JIS Middle School and High School soccer seasons are completed. The HS season runs from August 8 - October 19. The MS season runs from August 19 - November 8. So most likely Elite soccer tryouts will occur in middle to late November.

Both JIS and NON JIS are invited to try out for the Elite soccer team. 

Elite Soccer Training

Training will take place on Fridays with games on Sunday afternoons against local clubs. Teams will compete nationally and internationally. As the Elite soccer team only practices once a week, JIS students selected to the team are free to augment their Elite training by joining a JIS Dragons JSCL team.

Format Permainan

U13 and U15 Elite Soccer team players play 7 a side soccer as the focus is on refining ball control, playing in tight spaces and developing all around defensive and attacking skills. In addition most international tournaments that we will join follow a 7 a side tournament format.

Squad Size 

12 players will be selected for the Elite Soccer Team.
 

Why doesn't JIS offer an Elite Soccer option for younger age children?

The decision to focus on U13 and U15 for the elite soccer program aligns with the principles of the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, which emphasizes age-appropriate training and competition. At the U11 level, children are in the "Learn to Train" stage, where the primary focus should be on developing fundamental skills, game understanding, and fostering a love for the sport. Introducing elite-level competition too early can lead to burnout, over-specialization, and a decrease in overall athletic development. By waiting until U13, we ensure that players have a solid foundation, are ready for more intensive training, and can handle the physical and mental demands of elite competition, leading to more sustainable long-term success in the sport.

At Dragons Soccer Camp, your athletes will dive into an action-packed adventure of improving their attacking and defensive skills. They'll fine-tune their positioning, master technique, and become wizards of footwork and agility. But that's not all! We'll also nurture their decision-making abilities and enhance their fitness levels. These camps take place at different times throughout the year. Fees for the 2024-2025 school year are currently being updated. They should be published by August 19, 2024.

The Dragons U11 United team is a select team made of players from both PIE and PEL. They practice Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:15 - 4:45 PM.
